Why Blogs Are Important For Small Business and Therapists

Blogs are dynamic, meaning you can add content to them all the time. Web pages on your site are generally static, so once search engines have indexed them, there is no reason for them to come back and re-index your site. That is, unless, you have a blog. By blogging you are adding content and additional search engine topic keywords, so the more you post, the more Google will come back and re-index your site.
The Google search engine has incorporated the Google Panda Algorithm which requires every website to be ranked based on quality content that is also unique and fresh. This means the more credible blogs and content you add to your site, the more likely your search rankings will go up.
The key is that your website delivers quality, updated and informative content, because Google and other search engines want to offer high quality and relevant results to its users.
According to the Search Engine Journal, those who blogged five times in the last 7 days will get 6.9 percent more search traffic. This is free advertising for your practice!
Let's face it, how often do you search past the first page of results when looking for something on Google? Rarely. This is why it so important to get your rankings up so that you appear on the first page or two. There are other ways to appear on the first page of Google results, one of which is paid advertising; however, I will save that for another topic of discussion. It will take time to build traffic and your ranking, but the effort will be worth it.
In addition to having a blog on your site, consider writing for prominent blogs or article websites in your niche. This can be even more beneficial to generating traffic to your site. Just include a link to your website in your biography and you are likely to draw in new visitors from a source that gets more traffic than your current blog or website.
For starters, you can submit your writing to sites that receive a lot of traffic such as EzineArticles or Squidoo in your area of specialty. Or Google articles and blogs in your area of specialty and you might be surprised to find the number of sites allowing guest bloggers or article writers.
Lastly, writing blogs is a great way to show people not only your humanness, but also your skill, knowledge, and area of expertise. The more people who find what you have to say interesting, or related to what they are dealing with in their life, the more they will come to trust you as an expert, mentor or guide in the areas they might be struggling with.
